Disinfection Dosages
While recent interest in UV disinfection technology has skyrocketed in response to the COVID-19 pandemic, UV Electronics and Consulting’s principals have been developing UV disinfection products since 2004.
Pathogens are diverse, consisting primarily of viruses, bacteria, and fungal spores. These pathogens have widely different response characteristics to UV exposure. While most have an Achilles heel at a UV wavelength close to 265 nm, the required kill dosage varies drastically between organisms. For any given application, the targeted pathogens determine the UV kill dosage that in turn drives the disinfection system.
